Nashville GBP Feature Optimization
On this page
Beyond the name, address, hours and categories, a Business Profile offers features that tell a customer exactly what you do and how to act: a services list with descriptions and prices, booking links, video, attributes and updates. Filling them in accurately is low-risk work. The Google help pages cited here do not describe services, booking links or video as ranking factors; for attributes, Google says only that a business “might show up” in searches for places with those attributes. The work still gives a comparing customer more reasons to choose you and more ways to act without leaving the result.
Services
Google’s help explains: “If your business offers different types of services, you can group services into categories and include additional details, like descriptions and prices” (Manage your services on your Business Profile). You can choose from the services Google suggests for your category or add a custom service when yours is not listed.
List each distinct service as its own entry. A Nashville HVAC company can list AC repair, furnace replacement, duct cleaning and seasonal tune-ups separately, each with a short description in the words customers use. Two rules keep the list clean. Google warns that “Custom services that violate policy will be automatically rejected” and asks you to “Avoid including profanity, gibberish, personal information, prices, or phone numbers in custom service names.” Put prices in the price field and show real ranges only where you are comfortable honoring them; a made-up round number is worse than none.
Where your profile offers a products section, it can present signature packages or common jobs with an image and a short description. Use it only for offerings you sell, described as accurately as the services.
Booking links
Google’s help on local business links describes adding a URL to a transaction type such as Booking, and choosing a “Business preferred” link when you have more than one (Manage your local business links). The same page notes that some links “can automatically appear on your Business Profile” from third-party partners, so check what customers see.
Where the link points is a real choice. A direct booking tool removes friction, which suits a salon or a routine tune-up that customers book on convenience. A landing page suits consultative work that needs scoping first, because it can set expectations before anyone schedules. Decide by how your customers buy, and set the link deliberately.
Video
A short clip of the actual work, such as a technician diagnosing a unit, a finished remodel or a stylist at work, shows a customer what they are hiring. Google’s photo and video help currently lists videos of up to 30 seconds, up to 75 MB and 720p or higher (Manage your Business Profile photos & videos). Shoot vertically, the way people browse on a phone, and favor proof of the work over polish.
Attributes
Attributes describe specifics such as accessibility, amenities and service options. Google’s help says: “If you add certain attributes, your business might show up in searches for places with those attributes” (Manage your business attributes). Turn on every attribute that is accurately true of your business and none that is not; a customer who chose you for a wheelchair-accessible entrance or outdoor seating should find it when they arrive.
Photos and updates
Photos and posts round out the profile. Keep a current set of real photos of the exterior, interior, team and work, and publish updates tied to real events in the business, such as a seasonal service, an offer you will honor or an event you are part of. A profile that shows recent activity gives a comparing customer something current to react to.
Nashville specificity
Where the profile allows free text, in service descriptions and in the business description, name the parts of the area you serve, such as East Nashville, the Gulch, Germantown or Belle Meade, and the kind of work you do there. Specific, accurate place names tell a customer you work in their part of town; a list of every neighborhood you have ever driven through tells them nothing.
